Icelandic salmon production, after a slight dip in the mid 1990s, has since risen steadily. Arctic Char production has provided an interesting alternative to more traditional products. The overall production value has increased because of these trends and, recently, warm water production of seabass started. The thermal waters are generous in Iceland, because of the volcanic nature of the island and such diversification could be the start of a promising trend.
