 Aquaculture in Denmark has a long history, where the production of rainbow trout remains the dominant sector. In recent years, development of eel production (using heated recirculated water systems) has provided diversification opportunities. The aquaculture sector is represented by the Danish Aquaculture Organisation (Organisation Dansk Aquakultur) whose members include the Associations representing the producers of freshwater trout, marine trout and eels.
